Behind The Lens

Location

I composed this image in South Africa, in a reserve just on the border of Botswana, while on safari with Idube Photo Safaris.

Time

I composed this image in the late afternoon, it was hot and dry. The elephants were just getting on the move to head to water.

Lighting

I am a huge fan of back lighting, Idube Photo Safaris was all about getting us in position to get the best lighting possible. The back lighting was so beautiful against the dust.

Equipment

I used a canon 5dmk3 and I use both Canon Prime Lenses and the Sigma 150-600 S Lens

Inspiration

two things. The backlighting and the reflection of the light on the dust.

Editing

Very Little.

In my camera bag

Canon 5ds, Canon 1dxMK2, two Canon 6d's, Canon 300 prime, Canon 600 Prime, Sigma 150-600 S lens.

Feedback

Go on safari with pro photographers who look for lighting and give you time to create the images. Look for the light, look for the composition, Shoot in Raw, bracket your exposures if possible.
