Blue hour in the polder, a fogg is slowly clearing, 30 minutes till sunrise, -12*C… Cars pass by in a hurry over this little shortcut in the infrastructure and fail to see the beauty that is happening outside…
Ive been to this spot before and have taken a similar shot during in springtime under completely different conditions. I wanted to revisit the spot wit my 'new' wide angle lens and the snowy conditions.
Shot taken with A nikon D90, Sigma 10-20, hitech 0.3 hard grad filter tripod, remote release and some warm clothes.

Thanks for sharing the technique - now I will try too - simply spectacular shot!! You have created so much more than a 'streak of light' :)

Looks kind of like an alien spacecraft zooming past you. So it's a car, eh? Neat.

Location
This spot is just beside a rural country road in the area they call the Weipoort in Zoeterwoude, the NetherlandsTime
It was the Blue hour, a fogg was slowly clearing, and it was around 30 minutes till sunrise, the temperature was -12*C, it was very cold… Cars rushed by in a hurry over this little shortcut and missed out on the beauty that was happening outside…Lighting
I knew that the blue hour and the yellow car lights would make for a nice color contrast. But the end result really surpassed my expectations. The rising sun and the fog really made this shot extra special for me, they add a little extra bit of mystery and atmosphere. It would not be as interesting a shot if you could see the horizon or to much details.Equipment
This shot was taken with a nikon D90, Sigma 10-20, hitech 0.3 hard grad filter, a tripod with a remote release and some really warm clothes.Inspiration
I've been to this spot before and have taken a similar shot during springtime under completely different conditions. When I woke up that day and saw that it had been snowing all night I desperately wanted to revisit the spot wit my 'new' wide angle lens and the snowy conditions.Editing
Postprocessing involved getting the color temperature 'right' and removing some small distractions like road signs and dust spots. Also bringing out some details in the foreground with the raw processing and correcting for lens distortions & chromatic aberration in photoshop. I chose to keep the vignetting because i felt it leads the eye more into the image. In my camera bag
I generally bring my trusty old Nikon D90, my Tokina 11-16 2.8 (although this image was shot with the Sigma 10-20 mm I had at that time), and I also bring some longer lenses like my Tamron 17-50 mm 2.8 which I absolutely love and goes wherever I go. And of course my tripod, an extra battery because cold conditions like these can really suck the energy out of your battery. I always bring my filter as well to balance out the sky with the foreground so I don't have to do as much post processing.Feedback
Just get out there and shoot, experiment, go out on different times and in different conditions, even in bad weather. Weather conditions can really make an ordinary mondaine scene beautiful and will add something special to the shot!
