Location
I took this shot in Finistère, Brittany, an amazing region north west of France facing the Atlantic Ocean and the Channel sea.Time
It was morning, on a foggy day.Lighting
The grey light embraced all the scene, creating a mystic atmosphere.Equipment
I took it by hand with my reflex, a Nikon D500, and a tele lens Sigma Sport 150-600mm at 600mm.Inspiration
I really like Brittany, with its rough coastline, lighthouses and ever changing weather conditions. Of this scene I liked the mystic atmosphere with the lighthouse suspended in time and space, a whisper in the middle of the fog and the ocean. The flying seagull is a plus.Editing
Minor adjustments in Lightroom. In my camera bag
To be honest I am not that passionate about the last available technology... I use a Nikon D500 with a Nikkor 16-80 mm to be ready for any situation I may encounter while hiking or scouting the area. I also usually bring a wideangle lens (10-24 mm) and a macro lens (90 mm) both by Tamron, and for wildlife, a Sigma sport 150-600 mm. Manfrotto tripods and F-stop backpack. From time to time I do also take some shot with mobile phones which are getting better and better. I am now using an iPhone 14 Pro Max.Feedback
As mentioned above, in Brittany weather conditions keep changing quite fast, offering many different photographic opportunities without even changing the subject. In this kind of environment my suggestion is to just wait and enjoy the moment, the breeze which often becomes a strong wind, the smell and taste of the ocean, the singing of the many birds populating the area. And be patient enough to take advantage of any situation and changing of light. Of course, other than during 'bad' weather and storms, like always the best times of the day to take good photos of coastlines and lighthouses are sunrises and sunsets.
