Photographing deers in the mate season it's amazing and offers the chance to observe different interesting behaviors. In this occasion I was under my camouflage hide with a wonderful valley before my eyes while I heard a belling deer quite close behind me. I slowly and quietly rotate around my tripod and started shooting this big male which did not seem to realize I was there. I had some time before he left and I managed to take a few nice photos. But, more important, it has been a wonderful experience.Editing

To be honest I am not that passionate about the last available technology... I use a Nikon D500 with a Nikkor 16-80 mm to be ready for any situation I may encounter while hiking or scouting the area. I also usually bring a wideangle lens (10-24 mm) and a macro lens (90 mm) both by Tamron, and for wildlife, a Sigma sport 150-600 mm. Manfrotto tripods and F-stop backpack. From time to time I do also take some shot with mobile phones which are getting better and better. I am now using an iPhone 14 Pro Max.Feedback
In order to capture a similar photo the most important thing is patience and, of course, a little bit of luck. You have to be in the right place at the right time and this is something that rarely happens without a long wait. Concerning the shot itself it's really easy. I already had a deer belling on the top of the slope, with a nice backlight. Just had to underexpose and to shoot...
