Location
Taken while on a hike at a local wildlife preserve in Colorado.Time
This was taken before 9am on a chilly Autumn morning.Lighting
Shot during early to mid morning under some overhanging clouds, which helped to diffuse the sunshine.Equipment
Nikon Z7II, Tamron SP 150-600 G2, handheld, natural lighting.Inspiration
Who doesn't like searching for, and shooting big bucks? I was super stoked to see this guy sneaking through the woods. Once in position, I grabbed his attention to get this face forward shot.Editing
Lots! I changed up the foliage colors to bring out the oranges and reds, cloned out a couple unsightly branches, and tweaked the lighting a bit. All in adobe camera raw.In my camera bag
Nikon cameras, tamron lenses, sometimes a tripod, and the necessary accessories like batteries, and an ND and CPL. Lens blower, lens cloth, water, multi tool, snack bar.Feedback
Research your location with maps and scouting, and talk to local rangers and other hikers and photographers as well. Once you know where the animals are likely to be, you can then move in and prepare for the shot, be patient though!
