Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was sourced from the Roosevelt National Forest in Northern Colorado, USA.

Time

Late afternoon, towards evening as the light was fading away but still plenty of it left.

Lighting

Just natural lighting and a tripod used here.

Equipment

The Nikon D850, Nikkor 24-120mm with an ND filter attached, and mounted on a tripod, timed release.

Inspiration

This waterfall was one of the very last hikes my brother and I went on before he passed away. It has a special place in my heart so I wanted to create something equally special to save forever.

Editing

Of course I did! Color grading is the obvious one that stands out. The rest was just the usual selective masking for details, highlights and shadows.

In my camera bag

The Nikon D850, a couple filters, a tamron 24-70, or 70-200, or a 15-30 all SP lenses.

Feedback

Practice, and use a tripod!
