Congratulations, I have chosen this image as the winner in my competition. It displays the theme, motion and static, beautifully. Everything static is pin sharp as it should be and the movement elements are just wonderful. I very much like the choice of B&W as the presentation, it really suits the image. A well deserved image, well done.

Location
This particular photo was taken on the Strand in the theatre district of central London. It is busy, bustling stretch of road where you can see all sorts of people against the backdrop of a steady hum of slow moving traffic.Time
I think it was in the evening.Lighting
On reflection, it's kind of funny as to how bright this stretch of road is. London at night is generally quite spectacular light wise however it never struck me until that moment how brightly lit everything was. You have to contend with all sorts of light sources ranging from car headlights, shop window lighting, lamp posts and the big neon signs displaying the latest theatrical play.Equipment
I used my trusty Canon EOS 1000D, the standard kit lens (18-55mm) and my Vellbronn (grrr) tripod.Inspiration
I am fairly convinced that the good people of ViewBug and its members kind of gave me the general inspiration. On this site, you see so many excellent and creative ideas applied to transform something mundane or innocuous into something quite interesting. Indeed, my mind had been seemingly quite unsettled and then, quite randomly, perhaps on a bus journey, I seemed to latch onto this idea of shooting the Strand at night. The Strand struck me as an iconic, perhaps underrated, location. However I didn't shoot until months after I originally got the idea. I am glad I did even if I may have evoked the interest of a passing police car. At that point, I tried to look as if I was a professional and I belonged there. Ahem.Editing
Yes, I converted it to black and white using Creative Kit software suite. In my camera bag
As some of you will already know, I carry a Canon EOS 1000D, a tripod, an extra lens (70 - 300mm), a Tupperware box comprising some batteries, cables, memory cards, olio lens peripherals for the iPhone. I also may carry a sandwich, a bottle of water or snack. I am currently trying to make space for a second (second hand) Canon Powershot that I bought from a charity shop.Feedback
I think if your head is really full with "life", try your best to listen to that inner voice when it goes, "Hey, you need to capture this. Maybe not now but definitely later." Make either a mental note of a location or even write it down. If the locations are all bunched together then that could make for an interesting jaunt. If that inner voice starts to nag or shout then it is time to act on it...you'll feel better for it because you'll see your photographic instincts paying off by way of capturing some of that visual treasure...Good luck to all.
