Instead of IMG_9865-2...is there a story behind this picture? Be fun to know how you were able to get this shot? Congrats on the two wins.

I'm a huge fan of really blue light and warm light in the same frame. Excellent work on this one! Even great Vector points!

The photo was taken at Emerald Lake Lodge in Yoho National Park. I was actually attending a photography workshop and had the opportunity to learn from 2 amazing photographers.Time
This image was taken after sunset, and I fell in love with Emerald Lake that day, I couldn't believe it was my first time being there. There was an awesome low cloud floating in front of the awesome mountains and it just added to the mood. We had no wind which allowed us to get crisp, reflections and I just felt that having the pop of color of the lodge was just stunning.Lighting
Most people think that cloudy days are boring to shoot, I truly believe the opposite. There is something about the diffused soft light of a foggy/cloudy day that just makes me jump with joy.Equipment
This was shot with a: Canon EOS REBEL T3 Aperture: 11/1 ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 30/1 Focal Length: 16/1Inspiration
Being a part of a Photography workshop was definitely and interesting experience, there was just something magical about watching the sunset with 6 strangers and 2 amazing mentors, it was awesome to be able to see everyone's creativity and the different elements that each individual decided to focus on as their main spotlight. I wanted to create an image that you could stare at for a while and you could feel the cool breeze of that winter night on your face, but you could also feel the warmth of that light, I pictured myself inside that lodge in front of the fireplace just looking outside while drinking some hot chocolate.Editing
Yes Lightroom was definitely used for this image, I really liked the warm color of the lodge, I wanted it to be the focus point in the image, and thought it would be a neat idea to have everything else in black and white to make the lights & warmth pop even moreIn my camera bag
I am actually a complete beginner when it comes to equipment and even photography, I've been lucky enough to have awesome people giving me advice on what to get to have the best learning experience possible. In my bag that night I had my Tokina & Tamron lense, my Speedlight flash, 2 flashlights & a headlamp, a spare battery for my camera, hand and feet warmers, extra batteries for the flash, and always always granola bars or some type of snack and water bottles.Feedback
Giving yourself the time to experiment with some settings and arming yourself with patience is definitely key for me. It took several tries for me to get that star in the light just the way I wanted it. Don’t feel like you have to get the image right on the first try, and always aim to improve something every time you grab your camera.
