Location
I took this photo at i-City Theme Park, Shah Alam, Malaysia. I went there for holiday with my wife. We reached the theme park about 2 hours by the car from our hotel at downtown of Kuala Lumpur.Time
I took this photo on June 17, 2016 approximately at 07.45 PM. It was raining all day in Shah Alam and I photographed just after the rain stopped. Because of the rain too, the theme park is not too crowded by visitors.Lighting
Known as the City of Digital Lights, i-City is a theme park in Shah Alam best known for its nightly colourful display of LED-lit attractions. I didn't use any artificial light to take this photo. Only need a tripod for long exposure shot (about 20 sec) to catch the colourful LED.Equipment
I took this photo with my Nikon D5200 and kit lens, Nikon Nikkor DX 18-55mm VR, Nikon wireless remote control ML-L3, and Manfrotto compact travel tripod MKC3-P01.Inspiration
I was inspired by the photographs shown in Viewbug about long exposure shot at night. I was impressed how the other members can catch the light at night so exquisitely. I am a self-taught photographer, trying to learn how to create beautiful photo like them. This photo is one of the results of my practice.Editing
I took this photo with RAW file. I did post-processing with Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 just to make a little adjustment like brightness and contrast. In my camera bag
I always have my Nikon D5200 at my bag with the kit lens Nikon Nikkor DX 18-55mm VR and Nikon SB-400 speedlight. Sometimes I bring my Tamron 70-300mm VC USD and Nikon Nikkor 50mm F1.8 for special purposes. I also bring my Manfrotto compact travel tripod MKC3-P01 and Nikon wireless remote control ML-L3 to take photo like this photo.Feedback
When you want to a photo at the public place like theme park, make sure the place was not too crowded so you will not be disturbed and the other visitors also not feel disturbed. Look for the best spot to take photos and make sure you don't get any disturbing elements in the photos you take. Use a tripod and a remote control to take long exposure shot at night. You also have to take photo with low ISO and avoid set your apperture bigger than f-number 16 because of diffraction. Never shy and doubted the ability of your kit lens!
