At the grand opening of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum during the Bicentennial, they were showcasing a 40-foot high, spiral, free-standing sculpture. All the other photographers were standing around photographing its exterior. I waited until they all left. Then I laid down inside the base, pointed my camera up inside and got this abstract view.
When I later applied for the competition to become an Air Force Photojournalist this was in my portfolio that helped me win.
