Location
This was taken at the International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM in Oct 1989. I was in the lead balloon during their "Mass Ascension" event and was crossing over the Rio Grande river looking back at the launch site. There were close to 1,100 balloons in the air.Time

I was a Combat Photojournalist assigned as the NCOIC (Noncommissioned Officer In Charge) of the Kirtland AFB Photolab. One of our duties is being instructors and I gave my personnel the assignment of telling the Balloon Fiesta story in pictures without any words. I did this shot as a magazine cover.Editing
No.In my camera bag
When I was in the Air Force, as a Combat Photojournalist, this is what I carried on assignments along with my weapons: Two camera bodies, 2-43-86mm & 2-80-200mm lens (I always have color film in one camera and b&w in the other. This saves time not switching lens in the heat of shooting), 1-24mm, 1-55mm Macro, 2-Vivitar 285 flashes with a Quantum Battery pack.Feedback
Your cameras are literally "Time Machines," they are snatching raw, microseconds out of the "Human Condition" that will NEVER happen again! You have the responsibility of telling the truth of what transpired there--and not the cheap, manufactured, faux "news" of a cheap paparazzi!!! Think in images, images, images--you are there to tell a story/narrative in what you see so that they can stand on their own without words. Get into the flow of what's happening around you, and as you do you'll get to where you can sense and then anticipate things, get out ahead of it and capture it.
