Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in a nearby forest in French Alps, next to Grenoble, France. The location was not pre-planned. It is randomly came to sight when me and my friend (the model of the photo) were walking in forest.

Time

It was evening after a light summer rain. I think the dry summer and rain helped in creating the surrounding color contrast.

Lighting

I wanted an uniform light every where. That was pretty much easily available in the thick forest.

Equipment

I used canon 500D DSLR camera. The canon 50mm,f/1.8 aperture lens was used for this photo.

Inspiration

I always want to take pictures depicting a valuable message. The concept of this photo is to express the intellectual excitement of reading. I consider that reading a way to understand the nature and surroundings around us. It was just a coincidence that the cover of the book (that my model reading) contains the similar picture of her surroundings in the photo. It gave an impression that she is reading about her own surroundings.

Editing

I changed the depth of the color using Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I have canon 500D camera, lenses: a kit lens (18-50mm), portrait lens (50mm, f/1.8) and canon 55-250 mm lens, then a tripod.

Feedback

I think conceptual portraits are all about seeing things in a different way from what the others see. So giving advice to take the same kind of picture will be relative and adventurous. Just go out and tell the world what you want to say using your camera...
