The early morning sun had not long risen.Equipment
A Canon A530 compact fixed lens. No flash or tripod used.Inspiration
The balloon in the photo was travelling faster than the balloon in which I was travelling and passed directly beneath. It was just a case of waiting for the exact moment to frame it squarely as it passed underneath. Apart from this, I had no control of the positioning of either balloon. It was pure luck that I had this opportunity, particularly as the balloon featured was much more interesting with its mutlicolouring rather than the plain red one in which I was travelling.Editing
None at all, apart from darkening it a touch. In my camera bag
A Canon EOS 500D usually fitted with a 18-200 zoom lens. I normally carry a compact, also. Currently a Nikon Coolpix S8000 which is ideal for macro images.Feedback
Always keep at least a simple camera close to hand as it often a case of being in the right place at the right time when such an opportunity arises. Apart from that, always look for opportunities. Good photographs are often there for the taking. If the natural lighting (usually around dawn or dusk) is looking good, then keep an eye out for that striking image. If nothing turns up, you can always enhance a scene by introducing a your own subject to support a naturally striking background.
