Behind The Lens

Location

Monkey Forest, Trentham, Stone, UK

Time

Lunchtime

Lighting

Natural lighting. Some of the monkeys were in the trees but others on the open grassland like this one.

Equipment

Canon DSLR 550D, 18-200 f3.5 zoom lens, no flash, hand held.

Inspiration

I must have taken 200 photos that day of the monkeys in various poses and groups. They have their young late spring, so it was possible in June to witness family groups as well as individuals and older youngsters in their peer groups playing and friendly fighting.

Editing

Minimal. Perhaps just cropping to improve composition.

In my camera bag

Canon 550D, 18-200 zoom f3.5 lens, 200mm fixed f2.8 macro lens, a set of extension tubes, Nikon Coolpix S8000, Tripod (occassionally).

Feedback

Be patient. Animals seldom perform for you on cue. Be ready. Know your camera and have it set to suit your desired aspirations.
