Behind The Lens

Location

I took a picture of this pretty orchid in Singapore which is a heaven for orchid lovers.

Time

I think it was in the afternoon, the flower happened to be wet.

Lighting

I didn’t change anything about the lighting it was not particularly sunny.

Equipment

It was taken with my Canon EOS 1200D and my standard lense.

Inspiration

First of all, I love orchids and this one happened to be wet which makes a good motive. Apart from that I like the three colours which come together so neatly in the flower of this orchid. But also I enjoy the sharp contrast between the dark green plant background and the brightly coloured subject.

Editing

I only did the usual post processing, no special effects.

In my camera bag

My bag has grown, I have the lenses (standard, traveler’s zoom and wide angle as well as two UV and one grey filter. I further have a spare battery, a charger, an extra HD card and nowadays also an ultimate lens hood. Also I’m separately carrying around a reflector because the bag is too small.

Feedback

I can only say every little detail is important. If you don’t find a wet flower you can always spray them with water. Also caring about the background and the contrast to make the subject stand out seems to be important to me. Other than that, just show the beauty of the flower and it’ll be fine.
