Behind The Lens

Location

This is close to home, in a rural area, away from the chaotic city life.

Time

I've passed this scene so many times that it became just apart of the landscape. The sole reason I took this photo was because I was doing a 356 day project and the weekly theme was "abandoned" and this old gem captured the theme perfectly. I pulled my vehicle off the road and shot this at 1:30pm.

Lighting

Since this was outside I did have to expose for the shadows and the highlights, it was sunny out and the snow reflected a lot of light.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D800 with a 150-500 Sigma lens attached. I supported the lens through the open window of the vehicle door.

Inspiration

The inspiration was the weekly theme of "abandoned" that prompted me to take this image.

Editing

I cropped this image to eliminate distracting elements in the scene. I also like to tone down the highlights and bring up the shadows a bit.

In my camera bag

I like to have my D800 with an 80-200 lens attached lately.

Feedback
