Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken in the studio of a photographer friend near Florence. It was one of the last shots taken at the end of a very creative eveningTime
It was almost midnight when, while we were tidying up the studio, I asked the model to turn to me illuminated by the pilot light of a flash that was still on.Lighting
As already mentioned, the photo was taken with the pilot light of a flash left on which a beauty was mounted. The softness of the shadows inspired this shot. It was almost a street photography because the model was not posing but I had simply asked him to turn around for a moment.Equipment
To make this photo I used my Nikon D5 with 85mm lens. Opening f / 2.2; 1/160; iso 1,000.Inspiration
I was inspired by the spontaneity of the pose and the soft light you had with the only pilot light of the flash.Editing
I didn't do any special processing. I only developed the raw file by softening the shadows a little bit more and (with Photoshop) I used the curves slightly to make the shadows and lights even more uniform. In my camera bag
Usually in my bag my two Nikon camera bodies (D5 and D850) are always present with the Nikon triad composed by 14/24; 24/70 and 70/200 (all f / 2.8). these are joined by the legendary 85mm f / 1.4 and the Nikon 2x duplicator.Feedback
The advice is always the same as always. Do not respect the standard rules. We were photographing with the studio flash and the poses were (to my taste) too usual and obvious. The moment I saw the spontaneity of the model and the lights, I realized that the shot of the evening was this. This was much more than the others (perfect) made up until then with the use of flash.
