Location
This photo was taken in Miramar, Wellington. The peninsula was my home for few months. I had such a great time wondering the streets were vintage surfer style meets new technology cinema headquarters.Time
Morning close to noon. I remember I was looking for some fish and chips when I spotted the car and the colors.Lighting
This is all natural lighting but What I liked is that there were no shadows on the wall which allows this color composition.Equipment
I shot this with my Sony alpha 7S II and my Canon 50mm f1.8. I don't use tripod for urban photography because I often want to be as discreet as possible.Inspiration
I was inspired by the colors first. The car, the minimalism and randomness of the scene reminded me some vintage photos of old cars. I like the other car in pieces we can see through the window as well, saying to the one outside "You're next"Editing
I have mostly brought the blacks up, enhanced a bit the colors and contrast. In my camera bag
I have a Sony a7S II camera with a CANON 24-70mm f4, a SAMYANG 14mm f2.8, a CANON 75-300mm f4-5.6 and a CANON 50mm f1.8. I also have a M42 adapter and an Helios 44-2 58mm f2.8 lens made in USSR. And a Pola filter.Feedback
What I like in vintage shots is geometry and colors combinations between the subject and the background. This shot is a very specific example because it is a minimalist shot of a car, you can do vintage shots with everything but in this particular case I like the shape of the car and how it matches with the lines and colors of the background. I always try to take a shot that you could think it was taken in the past. There is also a lot of inspiration to take in old movies and photos.
