Absolutely incredible!!! Were you in a boat?? How long did you leave the shutter open? What was the weather/season when this was shot? I guess that I am trying to "feel" what it was like being there.

Hello Anne ! Thank you so much for the kind words ! Well I took this picture end of summer begining of autumn. And I was on the beach. The tree is not very tall and sometimes it is even out of water. The shutter was 1/25 s

Location
This is the famous Wanaka tree in Wanaka on the south island of New Zealand.Time
I waited for the stars by the tree until midnight to take this shot.Lighting
Despite the fact that light pollution is the cancer of night sky photography I liked the tint of it here. The tree is actually lighten by the city lights as well.Equipment
I clicked this shot with my Sony alpha 7S II and the Samyang 14mm f2.8 on a tripod.Inspiration
I had the idea of a vertical shot of the tree where stars would be a perfect background. The big void full of stars in the composition gives a fairy look to the shot and I like the minimalism of it.Editing
The main transformation here is the verticality because the idea of the vertical shot came in post processing. So the original photo is croped. I did a bit of color grade here as well to create a blue/purple dégradé in the sky.In my camera bag
I have a Sony a7S II camera with a CANON 24-70mm f4, a SAMYANG 14mm f2.8, a SIGMA 150-600mm f/5.6-6.3 and a CANON 50mm f1.8. I also have a M42 adapter and an Helios 44-2 58mm f2.8 lens made in USSR. A Pola filter and ND filter are completing my equipement.Feedback
The most important thing to me in astrophotography is not actually the stars but the subject you will put in front of it. Finding a good foreground is essential. In this shot the tree and its reflection in the still water was a perfect subject to show the serenity of the universe.
