Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the financial district of San Francisco.

Time

It was approximately 2:30 p.m. in December.

Lighting

Just a clear, California day in December.

Equipment

Sony Nex-6 with a fish-eye lens. Handheld.

Inspiration

Every December I go to San Francisco and walk from the ferry building into the financial district. I cruise around about 4-5 city blocks taking shots of all the high rises, as well as the people on the street.

Editing

The post-processing is limited to the Apple photos sliders. I use the in-camera HDR feature on my Sony.

In my camera bag

I like to carry light as I walk around the city streets. Literally, I do not carry my bag with me when taking urban shots like this. I have a fanny pack with two Sony cameras, one with a 16-55 lens and the other with the 50-200 lens. I also carry a couple extra batteries. That's it. I will probably take about 250 shots in about 2 hours.

Feedback

It's always exciting to vary the angle of the shots in a situation with these high rises. Sometimes they look great, sometimes not. Sometimes I'm tempted to run out in the middle of the intersection, but that can be a bit dangerous, obviously! I carry light, walk fast, and take lots of shots.
