Always have a little strong coffee! with backup thermos. No seriously, its good stuff. Especially if you are not a morning person. Get there early, an hour or so before light hits the horizon. Scout a location in the light, or research on google earth and use the Photographer's Ephemeris or Photopills to locate where the sun rises or where will it set and at what time. Bracket images to balance landscape with the sky. Blend in Photoshop or other HDR software.
