Behind The Lens

Location

The Photograph was taken In Winchester at the hat fair. This is an annual event held in Winchester, UK and involves several street entertainers performing.during the day

Time

The picture was taken mid morning

Lighting

The picture was taken using natural light. It was an overcast day so the light was diffuse

Equipment

Sony A700 DSLR with Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC zoom lens set at 50mm

Inspiration

There were several works of art by Delphine Sekulak, including this piece, dotted around the trees in the Cathedral grounds. All were weird and surreal which interests me.

Editing

Even though I used a wide aperture I still thought that the background was a bit distracting. I cropped out the background and replaced it with a graduated grey background. The photo was also taken in colour in RAW , so I converted it to black and white, increased the contrast slightly and slightly sharpened the image.

In my camera bag

Along with the Sony A700 DSLR and the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC zoom lens I also carry a Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD zoom lens and also a Sony 85mm f/2.8 SAM fixed focal length lens
