Location
Taken on Platts Eyot Island on the River Thames with the wonderful Ecce. A small Private island , with some old buildings and open spaces.Time
This picture was taken mid afternoon in June. This isn't the ideal time but the day was fairly overcast giving a diffuse lightLighting
Although it was 3 in the afternoon, in the middle of summer, it was an overcast day , giving diffuse light. The dark , out of focus backrown helps bring out the model and also the yellow flowersEquipment
Taken with a canon 7d using a canon EF 85mm / F1.8 lens. Using natural light and handheld at 1/250 @ f2.8 to blur the foreground and background. The 85mm is a great sharp lens and I find it good for portrature.Inspiration
What caught my eye was the bright yellow flowers against the dark background. The yellow flowers also contrasted nicely with the models reddish hairEditing
The photograph was post processed in photoshop. The contrast was increased a bit and colours given a bit more saturation. I also added a soft focus effect. This was done by creating a blurred copy of the image as another layer, which was set to soft light and then reduced the opacity of that layer until I had the effect I likedIn my camera bag
What I have in my camera bag depends on what I think I'll need on the day , depending what I am going to shoot. On this day I had My Canon 7D, Tamron LD XR DI SP 28-75mm Canon EF 50mm f1.8, Canon EF 85mm f1.8 and Canon EF 70-200mm f4 LFeedback
