Misery Bay, Alpena, Michigan (https://www.topozone.com/michigan/alpena-mi/bay/misery-bay/)Time
This was take late in the evening, just as the sun was setting, right after a thunderstorm had passed through.Lighting
No lighting enhancements - this was done late in the day in natural lighting on a tripodEquipment
Used Canon 5D Mark II 24-105mm f/4 on a Peak Design tripodInspiration
We were on an overnight kayaking trip along the coast of Lake Huron in the Alpena area. Misery Bay is the correct name for this bay, as the water level was not conducive to kayaking for long stretches. We had to constantly get out of the kayak and pull through 2 inches of water and muck, as we made our way over a couple mile stretch of marshy land with a thunderstorm chasing us.Editing
I used lightroom to post process, though minimal post processing was done.In my camera bag
Canon 5D Mark II with 24 - 105mm f/4 lens and 70 - 200mm f/2.9 isii lens, Tripod by Peak Design.Feedback
Someone once said that in order to be lucky enough to capture a great scene, you have to first be there when it happens... I really think this is true in photography - there really isn't any luck, it is all in preparation and efforts to get out to where no one else goes, at a time when no one else shows up...
