Thank you very much Melissa! This is one of the ones I entered into the Butterfly Contest. I wasn't even sure I was going to enter and then decided at the last minute... hope I didn't make a mistake on my choices! lol! Does everyone worry about that? :-)

Location
I took this shot at a butterfly garden in Maryland.Time
It was taken in mid-afternoon.Lighting
It was overcast that day but there was still enough natural light to capture this shot.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000 with my Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens. No flash was used or needed. I did not use a tripod either.Inspiration
The colors of this butterfly coupled with the color of the flower just popped out at me.Editing
I cropped this photo for a closer feel.In my camera bag
A Nikon D7000 camera. Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens, a Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G lens and a micro lens, the Nikon AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G Lens. I recently purchased a Fujifilm XT-1 camera and have been using that of recent with a Fuji 18-135mm lens and a 55-200mm lens.Feedback
I can't stress patience enough when shooting butterflies. They are very unpredictable and flittery and will sometimes literally hop from one flower to another before deciding to land and eat. You have to be willing to chase them down and be patient until they land. Although I did not use a macro lens for this shot, a good macro lens would have been better for greater detail.
