Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at local pond in Fairfax, VA.

Time

Early morning.

Lighting

All natural light.

Equipment

Canon EOS 60d with a 70-300mm lens. No flash - all natural light.

Inspiration

I liked the way the way the frog was sitting on the lilypad with duckweed all around him and the shadows and light cast a purplish color in the water. Beautiful composition I thought.

Editing

No post-processing done to this photo.

In my camera bag

A Nikon D7000 camera. Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens, a Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G lens and a micro lens, the Nikon AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G Lens. I recently purchased a Fujifilm XT-1 camera and have been using that of recent with a Fuji 18-135mm lens and a 55-200mm lens. At the time however I was carrying and using my Canon EOS 60d.

Feedback

I'm not into frogs at all but I love how this picture turned out and I get a lot of compliments on it. My advice? Don't hesitate to take that shot! May not be your favorite medium but if you see something that attracts your interest... take the photo op! You never know - it could be your prize winning capture!
