Location
I had to be in Ithaca, NY for a college visit with my son. The tour did not start until 10:00AM so I headed out early to shoot this amazing falls around sunrise.Time
I arrived while it was still dark and as the sun rose, I kept shooting. This image was right around sunrise.Lighting
A cloudy day and the sun behind me provided some nice even lighting. The white water and the darker rocks gave the image some nice contrast.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750 and my my 70-200 f/2.8 lens.Inspiration
There are not many big waterfalls near where I live so when I learned of this location, I made sure to bring my camera gear.Editing
I did some dodging and burning in photoshop to boost the contrast. Nothing added or removed. In my camera bag
Other than my camera, I typically have three lenses: 24-70 f-2.8, 16-35 f/4 and my 70-200 f2.8. I always bring a variety of ND filters and remote shutter release as well. I have decent travel tripod (Manfrotto) that is light enough to bring on hikes.Feedback
Get there early to catch the great light and have to ability to use a longer exposure before it gets too bright out.
