Location
One of my favourite places is down at Altona Pier.Time
This was taken at low tide, late in the day. I had driven past earlier and noticed that the tide was on the way out. Waited two hours and went back to sit under the pier until the light was just right.Lighting
The light was a bit average but I was there for the long exposure anyhow.Equipment
Canon 700D on a tripod with a remote shutter release. And a plastic mat to keep my bum dry....Inspiration
There are many, many similar shots to mine but I wanted to show it my way. Also to prove to myself that I could achieve the shot that I could see in my head.Editing
Not much processing. Added a slight purple tint and altered the white balance a bit to reflect the conditions that I saw whilst taking the shot.In my camera bag
Wide angle lens, 50 mm 1.8, remote shutter release and tripod are always with me. Also the Canon 24-105 L Series lens for walking around with.Feedback
Take the time to plan the shot, if possible. I have tried this shot a couple of times as a spur-of-the-moment thing but was never happy with the result.
