Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Lions Park in Ennis Texas. This is a family of 7 that I was shooting and dad and the 2 boys went for a little walk. Sometimes the best photos are when they have no idea you are capturing that moment!

Time

I love capturing images during the golden hour. That is when the light is warm and has that glow to it and the best shadows! I generally start shooting about an hour and half before sunset!

Lighting

This image was shot with all natural light!

Equipment

I shot the image with a Canon 5DMII with a EF 100mm macro 2.8 L IS lens

Inspiration

As we were finishing up our photo session dad and the two boys took off walking down the path. Just the simple fact that they had no idea I was still shooting and the naturel conversation they were having with each other as they walked made for one of my favorite images from this session!

Editing

On this image I intensified the sun and the warm colors in the sky to add a little more dramatic effect to the image. Exposing for the subjects the sky was a little washed out! Some cropping and color toning was also added!

In my camera bag

I always have in my bag a Canon 5DMII, EF 100mm Macro 2.8L IS lens, 50mm 1.4 lens

Feedback

When you are out capturing families always look for the more natural looks when they are not expecting a picture! You can capture the natural person this way. You must also be careful because some of the looks you get can be pretty funny though. The best advice I can give you is to have fun and make your clients feel comfortable and relaxed. This is when you see them!
