Location
I took this image on our sunflower farm outside of Ferris Texas.Time
This image was taken at around 10:00 am.Lighting
The lighting on this image was all natural light.Equipment
I captured this image with a Canon SX160 IS point and shoot camera set on the macro setting.Inspiration
As I was out checking our fields of sunflowers I noticed the bees going after the pollen! The colors of the flower and the pollen on the bee's body intrigued me to capture them together! I had to get really close though.Editing
The only post-processing was a little color correction and sharpening! In my camera bag
Out on the farm I always carry my Canon SX160 IS point-and-shoot. Back home I have a Canon 5DM II with a 50mm 1.4 and a 100mm macro EF 2.8 IS. I also have a Canon T1i with the 18-55 kit lens.Feedback
You really have to be patient when capturing insects with a macro lens or a point-and-shoot set to macro. You also have to have a good light source. Also set your camera to manual mode. Yes even a point-and-shoot has a manual mode. I would also say that 90% of the time shooting outdoors I have my white balance set to cloud. This offers the best warm tones. Make sure your focal point is on the insect and set to spot metering! Oh and it really helps to have a calm day!
