This image was shot in a new addition of homes next to my house. There were few homes there so a lot of open lots that grew up in wildflowers. Unfortunately I did not get to shot there this wildflower season because it is full of houses now!Time
I took this image at 7:54 pm as the sun was setting at golden hour. This is one of my favorite times of day to shoot. You get the best golden light and the long shadows that give your image depth.Lighting
The hour before sunset it one of the best times of day to shoot. The other time of day is from sunrise to about an hour into sunrise. This is know as the blue hour. Both the golden hour and the blue hour offer the best light of the day and the best shadows for great depth in your images.Equipment
I shot this image on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II with one of my favorite lens the Canon Macro EF 100mm 2.8 L IS. This lens is an amazing macro lens and also an amazing portrait lens. You can get some pretty good landscape photos also.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this image because the different types of wildflowers that where growing together here plus the angel of the sun setting across the flowers.Editing
At the time of day I was shooting this image I was exposing for the flowers so my sky was blown out. I had a great sunset in between houses that was giving me great light across the flowers, however it was blown out at the time. There were also a couple of houses in the background so I replaced the sky with an overlay sky and blended it into the image. I also removed the houses. In my camera bag

Don't be afraid to create. Get out and experiment with the light that is given to us. Shooting flowers is always best if you have an overcast sky or shooting at golden hour. I am a self taught photography and photoshop user. We have so much information at our fingertips these days that you could be learning something new every day.
