Wow! Incredible environment made even more beautiful by firelight! One can only imagine why the subject is seated alone. Perhaps the photographer was their companion?

Location
This photo was taken while on a mountain bike trip in southern UtahTime
This photo was taken on a stormy night in mid May. My brother and i were watching camping for a week in southern Utah when we noticed a storm approaching on the radar. As soon as we noticed the storm was approaching we immediately started looking for caves in the area to sleep in.Lighting
Fires naturally make a noteworthy glow in a cave, just be careful not to smoke yourself out :)Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon d5500 with an 18-140mm nikkor lens (the only lens i had on the trip), and a tripodInspiration
Sometimes inspiration for a photo comes at the moment and for this instance we weren't even planning on sleeping in a cave that night. When the fire started it created an incredible glow throughout the cave and at that moment i knew it needed to be documented.Editing
I did very minimal (almost none) post-processing to the imageIn my camera bag
I generally like to stay very light and minimal as most of my trips require a lighter weight setup. With this in mind i usually stick to a tripod, my nikon d5500 or sony rx100 iv, and one lenseFeedback
Don't be afraid to take multiple photos with a variety of settings. you can always delete some later.
