Well that is news to me Tom, where did you see that. I have been away on a cruise, although I should have stayed home considering the ship broke down and only got to 4 of 11 ports. This helps with that pain. Appreciate the heads up. Would appreciate a link or something. Thanks much

Wow! Love the moon and clouds and the colorful canyon fading off in the distance.

Thanks Ken, wanted to catch the full moon coming up over the rim, while it appeared large but clouds got in the way. So had to wait for it to get higher which also meant brighter. Then realized using the cloud to hide part of it which diffused the light.

I probably took 12-15 shots trying to get the full moon and this is the best of all. Probably because the moon is partly behind the clouds.

Location
This photo was taken along the south rim of the Grand Canyon on August 31, 2012 near Mather Point.Time
I took this shot at 8:18 PM which was 32 minutes after moonrise and 25 minutes after sunset.Lighting
An interesting fact is that this is what we call a "Blue Moon" as 'once in a blue moon'. This was the second full moon of the month, the first one happening on August 2. It was also during Blue Hour, the time when the sun is below the horizon and it is not quite dark and direct light from the sun, daylight, is gone. So I thought it was pretty cool to get a photo of a "Blue Moon" during 'Blue Hour'.Equipment
My Canon 5D MkII with EF24-105 f/4 lens was mounted on my Gitzo tripod with a Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ball Head. I had ISO 400 set and used an aperture of f/4.5 for 1 sec.Inspiration
I knew this was the second full moon of the month, i.e. a Blue Moon and thought it would be cool to capture an image of the "Blue Moon" during 'Blue Hour'. I really appreciated the clouds as they help add depth to the image.Editing
I used Light Room to develop this image. Probably the most useful tools for this was adjusting the shadows, highlights, white clipping (especially for the moon) and black clipping. I did some luminance adjustments with both orange and red also.In my camera bag
I have two bags and each has a purpose. The bag with my 5DMKII (Full Frame Camera) has my 16-35mm f/2.8, 24-105mm f4.0 and 70-200 f/2.8, mainly for everything except wildlife. Bag with the 50D (APS-C) has 24-70 f/2.8 and 300mm prime is mainly for wildlife. If I am traveling by car I take it all, which was the case for this trip. If traveling overseas only bag one goes unless going for wildlife, for that I take bag one with both cameras and swap 70-200 for 300 prime.Feedback
If I had this to do over again I would have done several things different. First I would have used my EF70-200mm f/2.8 lens and opened the lens wide open. I also would have increased the ISO so I could get a faster shutter speed to stop complete movement of the moon. I was at 105mm which was the maximum zoom for the lens I used, so I know I pushed the limits of that lens. I would have been in a much sweeter spot with the 70-200 lens.
