This reminds me so much of the view of my old lake house in Southern Illinois. Amazing shot!

Location
This photo was taken about 50 km north of Peace River,Alberta Canada.Time
This was taken around 1 am.Lighting
The lighting was pretty natural. I was on a pretty unsteady wharf so I couldn't really go any longer than a 30 second exposure.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark 2 Tokina 16-28 F2.8 Manfrotto tripodInspiration
I went out that night hoping to shoot the milky way. I knew there were thunderstorm warnings in the area. So I set out to one of my favorite locations. It wasn't long after I arrived that the storm started building. I was seeing an incredible show as the storm grew in size. I managed to get about an hours worth of shooting before it faded in the distance.Editing
Yes this is a blend of 3 images with different lightning bolts in each. Processed in LR blended in PS.In my camera bag

I often use Radar apps on my phone to see where the storms are and which way they are moving. Trying to stay beside it instead of in front.
