This photo was taken in my studio in San Jose, CATime
6pmLighting
This was lit by a 48" parabolic umbrella above and slightly behind the models.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5DmkII with a 24-105mm f/4L lens at 45mm. The strobe was a Einstein.Inspiration
This is a variation on a series of multiple body bodyscapes I had done the previous year. I wanted to continue the series and decided to do the same poses but with painted models.Editing
There is minimal post-processing to this image. I did remove a tattoo from the small of the back on the orange painted model. In my camera bag
Canon 5DmkII, Canon 17-40mm F/4L, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L, Canon 24-105mm f/4L, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L, Canon 580 strobe, 4 pocket wizards, intervalometer, CamRanger, lots of memory cards, batteries, and business cards.Feedback
This type of shot took months of planning. Bodypainting seven models takes a full day so set expectations with the models and any assistants that it is going to be a 12-14 hour day. Pre-plan as many poses as you can, that will help you shoot quickly when everybody is tired after the long day of bodypainting.
