The coatimundi is a near relative of the raccoon. Its range includes South America, Central America, Mexico and Southwestern US. They are omnivores eating mainly fruits, invertebrates, eggs and small vertebrates. Olfaction plays a major role in finding food among the ground litter. Their nose is quite versatile.
