This is Crystal Mill in central Colorado. It was never actually a mill of any sort. It once housed a vertical water wheel, which in turn powered an air compressor to supply a local mine. I was pretty pumped when one of my fall photos of this spot won a place in an international as exhibit held in Paducah, KY to be held later this summer.
I'm dedicating this shot to my 7 year old daughter who loves rainbows. Normally I'd use a slower exposure to smooth the water, but the rainbow didn't come out as well. Because this place sits pretty deep in a valley, I had to wait until around 9:30 for the rainbow to appear in the mist from the turbulent water. Because of the surrounding landscape, I couldn't position myself for a better shot of the rainbow on the right, but I'm still pretty pleased with the results. Enjoy!
