Every night around sundown, 10,000 (ish) flying foxes (Pteropus vampyrus) take off from Kalong Island (near Rinca), and fly out in a giant swarm to go eat fruit on Flores and the surrounding islands. It's kind of epic to watch (especially if the tourist boat next to you plays the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' soundtrack the entire time)
