Groupers are predators that feed on fish, crustaceans and octopus. They have large plates inside the back of their mouths that they use to crush their prey. Some grow to over a meter in length and weigh over 100 kgs. There are no records of humans, or sea otters for that matter, ever being on the menu. This is a composite photo. The sea otter I saw swimming in the Seward harbor while the grouper photo was taken in the Sea Life Center in Seward. Although groupers can grow very large and weigh hundreds of pounds, as far as I am aware no grouper has ever eaten a sea otter.
