I saw this rather colorful hairy caterpillar crawling along a fence south of Denali National Park here in Alaska. A search on the internet revealed that is a Rusty Tussock Moth Caterpillar. The name refers to the four paintbrush looking tufts on its back. This particular species (Orygia antiqua) is a generalist leaf eater feeding on about 50 species of coniferous and deciduous trees.
