They are commonly called 'Tippler's Bane', and are in the genus Coprinus. Their common name is derived from the fact any person that eats these mushrooms and consumes alcohol, even well after the fact, will become quite ill. It will pass, but tends to put people off wild mushrooms

Do you happen to know the type of mushroom this is. Does it get much bigger. In the forests of BC. there is a mushroom called elephant ears, but grows very large.

no, im srry i dont. it died in 2 days. just, there one, gone the next....... we have a bunch in maine in the front yard and they all do the same...!
