I found this lichen covered driftwood along Kachemak Bay next to Beluga Slough, Homer, Alaska. That it was one of the higher pieces of driftwood on the grown over portion of the beach suggests that it had washed up many years earlier during a severe storm that coincided with an unusually high tide.
