While most of the impala we saw in Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya were grazing or lying down ruminating, occasionally a group would come running by as if being pursued by something we never saw. Were they running because they felt like it, or because something had made them nervous we can't say. Occasionally during such runs one or two of them would make an incredible leap into the sky even though there was nothing to leap over. Could it be in the excitement of running some just like to leap very high? Is it something they just enjoy doing? Is it a form of alarm to keep the others moving?
