Behind The Lens

Location

This was captured in my backyard flower bed/s.

Time

I was making my daily "inspection tour" of what my wife calls "my kingdom". I usually do that at 9:30 or so in the morning.

Lighting

A storm was brewing in the overhead skies so the lighting was flat.

Equipment

I use a Canon 60D and for this photo, I had my Tamron 90mm Macro lens

Inspiration

The sunflowers were about 11 feet tall and stood out wonderfully against the overhead storm clouds.

Editing

I shoot everything in RAW. I use ACR and then move to Photoshop. I need to darken the sky so I used a luminosity mask to select the sky and then a Curves adjustment to finish.

In my camera bag

Canon 60D Canon 50mm Tamron 90mm Macro Canon 24-105mm zoom Canon 55-250 IS STM zoom

Feedback

When I captured this it looked terrible on the camera screen. Just be out there with your gear.
