Location
In the Manzano Mountains 4th of July campground, about 50 miles south of Albuquerque, New Mexico.Time
Mid afternoonLighting
The dense foliage of the trees mostly obscured direct sunlight, but the scattered and diffuse light was adequate.Equipment
Handheld Canon XTi with a 17-85mm Sigma lens and a "Moose" polarizing and warming filter.Inspiration
The trees seemed to form a tunnel above the hiking path, but the real attention getter was the appearance of some black birds in the branches, just to the left side of the path.Editing
In post processing I enhanced the red of the fall colors and selectively burned additional shadows into the view.In my camera bag
I usually carry at least two lenses, several filters including Moose's excellent combination polarizer and warming filter.Feedback
Be especially careful of exposure, using a histogram display if possible. The biggest problem with partially sunlit scenes is blown highlights!
