In the End, All Artists are Specters to the Images we create... When i saw this image, that thought hit me like a ton of bricks. Most would consider this image tainted. I call it the true image of all Artists. Ghosts and Silhouettes.

my Go-to lens for most of my landscapes is my Nikon Ultra wide AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED

Location
I took this in the wee hours of the morning at the White Rock Pier, in British Columbia.Time
I got there at about 4 am, taking several shots while it was quiet,. i was looking for a full night contrast black and white shot at the time. As the dawn came, I saw something else. The fog banks came in heavy, and thats when i took the shot. I think it was at around 6 am.Lighting
the lighting was perfect. the fog banks hid the rising sun just enough to give this ethereal mood, allowing the lights on the arches to give a great redirect for the eyes.Equipment
I used my NIKON D5500, on a Manfroto Tripod, and using a wireless shutter remote. Very simple, Basic equipment.Inspiration
The actual quiet isolated feeling of the scene, was what was first inspiring for me. But as i was taking the prolonged exposures of the Pier, another fellow Shutter bug promptly plunked his tripod up in front of me, unintentionally becoming a part of the framed shot I had intended. It was then That i saw the beauty of that tripod and camera, and what I saw in him, (as all photographers) was how we are spectre observers of the world. The ghost images of him, and the silent witness in the seagull on the post, it added, a new story than the original one, and i knew i had to take the shot. This was the end result. one of a kind shots only taken by that moment. And what I think are the most honest, most beautiful images. And one of my favorites.Editing
because I haven't started using Filters on site yet at this time, I did have to do some post processing. MY focus was to bring out the fog, so I could express the idea of the specters within the scene. As you see, the blue sky above was already starting to coming through, but i wanted that emotion of only a pacific silent fog can create. I wanted that emotion to be seen in the image. after a couple hours, i Finally found the blend, and this is the end result. In my camera bag
LOL. I have a huge bag, it always feels like I'm a soldier hiking with full gear on. With that pack, i always bring my Nikkor 55-300mm, my Nikkor 200-500mm, and my "go to" lens Nikkor 14-24 Ultra wide lens, (How i love that lens!) Add the 4-5 back up batteries, Lens cleaners and cloths, extra Memory cards, I'm usually good to go for anything.Feedback
Perseverance, Patience, and Observation. I love it when I find those one of a kind shots, those shots you take just by being there. That said, it takes time. Not all shots are the same, so many things can change with each click of the shutter. but with the culmination of patience and desire for seeking the event out, you will find it. Look for those shots that make you feel something, those images are never wrong. Never dismiss the post work you do with a picture. No shot is perfect out of the can. Take the time to polish that gemstone, give it the shine, so others can see what your eyes already have.
