Grand Jury Winner

"This image stood out to me most of all because the sensation of movement centered around the lighthouse, which is strangely isolated offshore, drew me into the center of the frame at first glance. As I continued to look within the seascape, my eyes keep locking in on the singular lighthouse and I found myself wondering what life must have been like for the keeper of this unique beacon in the sea. Black and white tones with just the right amount of contrast compliments the overall asymmetric composition of the scene and the slight vignette also does a great job of keeping the focus on the center. I've never seen a photograph of a lighthouse quite like this one! Really, I'd love to hang a print of this in my living space. " - Donal Boyd

Runner Up

"I really liked this image because it mixes symmetry in the background mountain (centered vertically) with an asymmetric leading line (the log) into the top third of the frame. All of the colors blend beautifully to ease the eye into the mountain peak jutting out of the low clouds and fog. What an atmosphere!" - Donal Boyd

Runner Up

"I sure do love fjords and this image does a great job of telling the story of how immense and epic they can be. I think the foreground peak does a superb job of giving a sense of scale to the scene and the overall colors and tone invited me in immediately, letting my eyes wander across the layers of cloud-scraping mountain peaks with ease. " - Donal Boyd
