Location
This was on my terrace in December 2015. It was raining cats and dogs that even the water drain on terrace isn't fast enough to drain all the water that is falling from the sky.Time
It was around 11:30 in the morning, but the thunderclouds made it look like 6pm.Lighting
I used the natural light for this photo, with maximum aperture.Equipment
This was shot using Canon 600D fitted with 50mm lens, hand-held. Discarded the idea of setting up another light source as I was holding my camera in one hand, the boat in the other, kneeling on the water and balancing the umbrella with my head and shoulders.Inspiration
My love for the sea and the way fishermen risk their lives in it to earn their bread, inspired me to take this photo. This is how this photo happened: The rains were so intense that the city was flooded and I was home-bound. So I made a paper boat, after so many years. It was fun becoming a child once again. The paper boat sank as soon as I put it on the water. After many attempts, I managed to click this photo just before it sank again. So what inspired me to take this photo also gave me a lesson - rough seas and tumbling dreams, that's what life may seem. But no matter how big we are, just set sail and chase the storm.Editing
Adjusted the shadows and highlights to enhance the bokeh effect. In my camera bag
I have my Canon 600D, with 18-55mm 3.5-5.6, 50mm 1.8, 75-300mm 4-5.6, three batteries, four memory cards (4, 8, 16 and 32 GB), a lens hood, a tripod and a camera cleaning kit. Seeing my camera bag totally unpacked is quite a rare event.Feedback
My advice would be to use a prime lens for this kind of rain shots as it will add a magic to the photo. It will be better to click it from the same level as the subject. Positioning the subject in the frame is very important but sometimes, not going by the rules can give wonderful results too.
