That's really beautiful. The texture, the color , and the depth of field can together to make this the a great shot.

The capture of the fine crystallisation of the ice along the edges makes this a beautiful shot. On the composition, what made you put the subject to the far right? I assume it's for isolation purposes

DeSo delicate, the secret life of flowers! Great composition allows one to explore. Wide aperture threw the background out of focus, but still suggests that there is more to explore! Love it!

Location
This picture is taken at the lake of constance, not far away from where I live. I was looking for calm insects after a cold night when the dewdrops got frozen. It's a beautiful inspiring place next to cornfields and trees that lead directly to the lake. And because I didn't find any insects I decided to shoot this frozen flower.Time
the early bird gets the worm and the second mouse gets the cheese - this time I was the early bird. Right when the sun showed up I went out and took some pics.Lighting
The light came from the direction I shooted. The sun wasn't totally out, and so the light was soft. Additionally I tried to drop a shadow to the plant with my body, and all of that together is the reason for the soft light.Equipment
I always use the same equipment for all my macro shots. Nikon D800e, Sigma 105mm, tripod, sled, ballhead (sometimes a Raynox DCR250 - love it!).Inspiration
I saw a lot of cool blossom pics with a soft bokeh and I love the style of that images. It was my try to shoot something like that when I saw this flower, frozen in dewdrops. I was looking for the right flower with the right background for the bokeh I was looking for and when I found this one I thought - cool, that's it!Editing
Yes! I love Photoshop and Lightroom :) Actually I shot a series of pics with different focus points. This picture is a manual stacked Image. Because I couldn't achieve the Bokeh I wanted and the look of the flower I wanted with one shot, I took three with the right Aperture for the background and to get the right sharpness for the flower I had to combine these Images. I adjusted the colors, so that the background fits to the flower, because the background was a bit greenish from the grass. In my camera bag
a lot, but important is not the equipment its your eye! And something to drink ^^ For all who want to know it though: D800e with battery grip Sigma 85mm 1.4 Sigma 105mm 1.4 Nikon 50mm 1.8 Tamron 24-70mm 2.8 with circ. pole filter Raynox DCR250 CloseUp lens microfiber towel lenspen additional batteriesFeedback
Think the most important thing I can say to this pic is, that I was looking for the right bokeh and I adjusted my camera settings for that. Then I shoot as many pics as I needed to get the flower in a way sharp I wanted it to be. I know its not the usual way of photographing a flower, it's not my usual way either but sometimes you have to think different to achieve your goals. Nothing could be wrong when the result turned out good!
