Location
A chance photo portrait during a stop in a market in a small village in Sri Lanka. This guy came asking for money as a hand out, instead I said I would pay him for his photograph.Time
Middle of the day but under the cover of an old shed used for the village market.Lighting
Only natural lighting was used. I really like the highlights in his eyes and the subtle shadowy shapes in the background.Equipment
I was shooting handheld with an Olympus OMD EM-1 with the M.Zuiko 12-40mm f2.8 pro lens; no flash, filter or other accessory.Inspiration
I took this as a chance photo portrait during a stop in a market in a small village in Sri Lanka. This guy came asking for money as a hand out, instead I said I would pay him for his photograph. As it turned out I got a lot of great portrait shots of him. I think we both came away thinking we got the better end of the dealEditing
I post-processed the image in Lightroom to make the B&W image you see.In my camera bag
An Olympus OM-D E-M1 with a M.Zuiko Digital 12-40mm f2.8 PRO lens, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f2.8 PRO lens and now also the M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm f2.8 PRO lens. That and a couple of ND filters is pretty much all the photography equipment I own.Feedback
There is so much to celebrate in and around our world that it begs documentation. I love to shoot things as they capture my attention at the time more or less as a snapshot in time for me to remember (don't we all do this?). Find a style that works for you and practice it - that itself will take some time and so try to enjoy it each time.
